A Journey of Hope

To be fair

Follow the trail of money. Where does it flow?

Humans are egoistic, status-oriented creatures.

Women buy things to denote higher status among female peer groups, and they want high-status men.

Men, in turn, buy things to denote higher status, to impress women and compete for status among men.

The markets want the general population to keep doing this, but eventually they run up against a wall when trying to increase profits each quarter. The solution? Give people access to easy credit.

Marketing brings more propaganda and advertising to make people dissatisfied with their lives and what they have.

Psst, girl, your guy is not rich enough or buying you enough stuff or giving you enough tingles, so why don’t you trade up?

Hey, dude, your girl is not as young or hot as this other one, so why don’t you cheat or dump the old one and get with her instead?

You need more. You always need more. Buy more stuff! Make more money! Have more fun!

It’s never enough. Nothing will ever be enough.

Money and pleasure are the twin pillars of modern society. People will lie many lies and commit many wrongs in the pursuit of money and pleasure. These have replaced religion and God.

Interpersonal alienation and seclusion, moral decline and urban anonymity. These make people feel restless and unhappy, which stimulates the economy further because people want to buy more stuff — to make up for the emptiness they feel inside.

Consumption is required to keep the economy “healthy.” Never question the economists. They know what’s best. We need de-regulation and to take away the environmental protections so that we can go back to double-digit growth, get rid of minimum wage so we won’t have such high unemployment, and pillage the Earth by drilling, fracking and polluting as much as we can so that we can be economically prosperous.

I’d like to share a revelation I’ve had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species. I realized that you’re not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with their surrounding environment, but you humans do not. You move to an area, and you multiply, and you multiply, until every natural resource is consumed. The only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet. You are a plague, and we … are the cure.

  1. More, more, more. And when you have more, guess what? You want more.

We are trained from a young age that more is natural. We are desensitized to the concept of more. It’s like a drug that can never approach its original high.

    More is not natural.

    Great post!

  2. Out of control cell growth in an organism is cancer. Out of control growth in an environment is a plague. Out of control e-mailing is spam.

Growth is good and even necessary in the beginning to jump start a system. After that continuous growth can be and often is harmful. Example: human growth pattern after infancy and childhood.

  3. Hmm. I wonder if we confuse “evolution” for “growth?” I don’t believe they have anything to do with each other.
