I am in the third trimester now, and our baby is getting bigger every day. He’s a very active one, and we call him squirmer because he moves around so much. From what I’ve read, that is a good sign.
Lately I have been thinking quite a bit about Liam. My pregnancy with him was a bit different, because he was always a bit small in size and did not move nearly as much as this baby. My belly is basically as big now as near the end with Liam, and I’m gaining weight more rapidly as well.
Last night I found an article that mentiond the lightest fetuses have the highest stillborn risk, much more so than the heaviest. That coupled with the fact that he had a narrowing of the aorta and never moved very much made me wonder. I hope that this baby’s stronger movements and seemingly larger size means that he is healthier.
As I’m getting closer and closer to the finish line, I’ve also been looking up information about premature births as well as risks to the baby in childbirth. This article about home births has me a little paranoid about oxygen deprivation to the baby during birth. Even though I will be giving birth at a hospital with a competent team of professionals who have lots of experience with high-risk pregnancies, unforeseen things can still happen.
In the meantime, I’m happy every time he moves and kicks in my belly, which happens quite a lot. It reassures me that he is doing okay.
